Take a bite out of history with this homemade guacamole, an ancient recipe first made popular by the Aztec peoples as early as 500 BC. Guacamole can be one of the healthiest foods you will find on tables across the United States this Sunday (with the exception of the celery sticks that are served along with chicken wings). And while some may some may dare to adulterate this ancient dip with the addition of sour cream, peas, or (I shudder to think) mayonnaise or miracle whip, you will find none of those ingredients in this recipe, just fresh avocado, tomato, onion and the right amount of seasoning. And as a result, you will achieve guacamole perfection (with a bounty of vitamins, minerals and healthy fats, to boot). The best part is that you don’t need any fancy equipment or ingredients to make this guacamole, and it can be prepared in the same amount of time that it takes to watch one of those boring local television commercials. And while it is meant to be eaten as a dip, with tortilla chips or fresh veggies, I won’t judge you if you eat it with a spoon…it is that good!!
